The foundation of the beers are based on the diligently crafted

beautiful world of delicate, profound, balanced and diverse beers.
Our Signature Beer is the COEDO BENIAKA, a full-bodied amber lager
that has a sweet nutty aroma and mellow richness from the
combination of high quality malts and roasted sweet potatoes. It
has received rave reviews from top sommeliers and beer gurus around
the world.
Our organization was established as an organic vegetable
distributor in 1970's. The company was motivated to launch a
brewery to educate a wide and profound craft-beer-world to Japanese
people because only light- pilsner -kind of beers from 4 industrial
breweries were available in Japan at that time (There were no micro
breweries in Japan untilmid 1990's). The another idea for our
venture of beer businessthose days came from the motive for locally
produced starches like a wheat, barley and sweet potato to utilize
in a fantastic way, no bread, no noodles but beers! Especially the
concept to use sweet potato in a beer is truly unique in the world
and getting the reputations globally as an answer for a new beer
category from Japan. At the very beginning the basic knowledge for
brewing was transferred from Germany by a German brew-master. But
Japanese young craftsmen have been developed as 1st generation of
brew-masters in Japan and give full play to their ability now.
These days the brand is get started to be featured on the Japanese
airline (ANA) as a representing qualified Japanese craft beer.

COEDOBREWERY is located in a suburb north of Tokyo, in Kawagoe,
Saitama Prefecture, which has continued to be a bustling city since
the Edo period during the era of Samurai's. We produce beers on a
smaller scale. The brand name "COEDO" derives from our home town's
nick name and means "little Edo".
Every year since 2007, all five of the COEDO beers have won
trophies in world-class food contests. For example in 2009 marked
the third year in a row that our Signature Beer COEDO BENIAKA was
awarded the "Three Star Award" by the International Taste &
Quality Institute (ITQI) Belgium and was honored to be the seventh
awardee of the top ranking and prestigious "Crystal Taste Award",
the first ever for a Japanese Beer. Also in the largest beer
competition "World Beer Cup 2010" in US and "European Beer Star
Award 2009" COEDO BENIAKA received honorable "Silver medals".
